Chucky Slick Reps P-Pats at Chowder Cup...

The Potomac Patriots had a surprise guest player at Chowder Cup this past weekend in Walpole, Massachusetts.

Chucky Slick, the creator of the “Junior Hockey Anthem” which now has almost 300,000 hits on YouTube, along with his brother Eric skated along side childhood teammates John Rempe, Chris Howland, Alex Grose, and Petey Wydler in a Potomac Patriots uniform.  “It was interesting to see the reaction from other teams and even coaches,” said Coach RJ Zeigler, “I had one coach that wanted a picture with him.  I didn’t know how to respond to that; I’ve never had one of my players be a budding national celebrity before.”  Chucky will join the Corpus Christi IceRays of the NAHL this season while his brother Eric could potentially end up in a Patriots uniform this season.

The Patriots went on to a 2-1 record at Chowder Cup, outscoring opponents 17-11.  The Pat's only loss (4-0) came to a very talented Hockey Essentials program packed with EJHL veterans and players that will be joining NCAA D1 programs such as UNH this fall.  Their 10-2 and 7-5 victories showed a very explosive offense, but a defense that will “need a good deal of work” according to Coach RJ Zeigler.  The Patriots will continue team practices this week and look to progress through Training Camp at the end of August.  Both the Empire and EJHL South squads will open the season at home September 8th and 9th against the East Coast Eagles.
