ANDREW TURGEON #10 - Position: Right Wing, Height 5’9” Weight: 165 lbs, Shoots: Right. Current 2012-13 Captain, also captained the 2011-12 Potomac Patriots Empire Playoff team. Scouting Report: Andrew is in his third season of junior hockey, all with the Potomac Patriots. Growing up in the DC area he played Tire II hockey for the Bowie Bruins as well as Tier I hockey with the Washington Little Caps. Andrew holds franchise records for goals and points and is a couple assists away from holding that record as well. He’s a pure goal scorer with a good head on his shoulders. A natural leader, he works hard at both ends of the ice. Andrew also excels in multiple sports, though hockey is his passion. His aspirations include getting and education at an NCAA school while helping his hockey team win a national championship.
JOHN REMPE #55 - Position: Defense, Height 6’4” Weight: 210 lbs, Shoots: Right. Scouting Report: John is entering his final year of junior hockey. A native of the DC metro area, John grew up playing Tier II for the Ashburn Xtreme before playing Tier I for the Washington Little Caps. John played his first year of junior hockey for the Washington Junior Caps before joining the Patriots in 2010. He is a physical defenseman that is extremely valuable in any special teams situation. In his time with the Patriots John has developed into a great team leader, demonstrating how to deal with adversity and helping the younger players in a very new organization continue to develop, John’s aspirations include playing hockey at an NCAA school while finishing his degree. Long term John would like to become an entrepreneur.
ALEC YUTZLER #39 - Position: Goaltender, Height 6’1” Weight: 195 lbs, Catches: Left. Scouting Report: A native of Clinton, New York, Alec enters his third and final season of junior hockey with the Potomac Patriots. Alec’s first two seasons of juniors were spent in the Empire Junior Hockey League. Through his first 3 starts in the EJHL South, Alec has notched 142 saves and recorded a 2.36 GAA and a .940 save percentage. His movement in the crease, ability to recover, and ability play the puck are all indicators that Alec is extremely strong physically. Currently Alec can bench 325 lbs and squat 455 lbs. He has a quick catching glove and a tremendous work ethic. In the off season Alec trains in Rochester, New York with Jared Blank and Bob Janosz. Alec has aspirations to get a good education while playing college hockey, whether that be at an NCAA or an ACHA school.
TEMUR HANNAN #92 - Position: Defenseman Height 6’1” Weight: 195 lbs, Shoots: Right. Scouting Report: Great size and speed on the blue line. Spent some time in the NA3HL last season with Pittsburgh. “Being a student athlete I see myself attending a college and being able to play Division III Ice hockey next year. Academically I want to major in Biology and attend medical school. My life goal would be to pursue a career in healthcare because I believe that assisting people medically betters not only their lives, but also my own.
JOJO HARDING #28 - Position: Forward Height 5’8” Weight: 160 lbs, Shoots: Left. Scouting Report: Extremely hard working, speedy player. A penalty kill specialist, blocks shots well. Will do anything for his team. Jojo is already a very successful entrepreneur, having started his own business at the age of just 18 years old. Jojo will most likely stay near home and follow through with his business while potentially acquiring his business degree a local Maryland state school.
SEAN GREGORY #71 - Position: Forward Height 6’4” Weight: 200 lbs, Shoots: Right. Scouting Report: A versatile big man that can play both offense or defense. Sean played with Toledo in the NA3HL last season. This season he is enjoying his role as a mentor for the younger players in the Patriots program, namely Cameron Smith. Since Sean has played junior hockey since he was Cameron’s age this has worked out well. After this, his final season of junior hockey, Sean will look to play college hockey while getting his degree in Sports Management.
ALEXANDER GROSE #51 - 1993; Position: Forward Height 6’2” Weight: 185 lbs, Shoots: Right. Scouting Report: Alex is entering his third year of junior hockey. Having spent half of last season with the Sturgeon Falls Lumberjacks in Ontario, Canada, he comes back to the DC area ready to face the competition in the EJHL South. He plays both penalty kill and power play for the Patriots this year. After playing out his junior hockey career Alex will look to play college hockey while getting is bachelors of science degree in economics followed by his masters degree.
MATTHEW WIPPER #25 - 1993; Position: Forward, Height 5’10” Weight: 180 lbs, Shoots: Left. Scouting Report: Matt is entering his first season of junior hockey. A billet player from Cleveland Ohio, Matt brings leadership, hustle, and a great set of individual skills to the table. Last year Matt was the Captain of The University School Prep team in Cleveland. He was a four year varsity player, receiving All League Honors his last three years. Last season he was named the Cleveland News-Herald Player of the Year. Matt has been accepted to many prestigious schools including Hobart and Ohio University. After juniors Matt would like to major in either business, marketing, or finance. He also has an interest in minoring in music production.
MIKE PICCIRILLI #22 - 1993; Position: Forward/Defense Height 6’1” Weight: 230 lbs, Shoots: Right. Scouting Report: Mike is a tremendous physical presence on the ice and adds great hands and skating ability to the mix. He has grown up playing Tier II AA for most of his life, including taking a trip Nationals 2010-2011 year. This is his first season playing juniors and plans to play out his eligibility then attend college. He graduated from Huntingtown High School this past year where he was an honors student all 4 years. While in high school he played varsity hockey for four years and was the team captain his junior and senior years, leading his team to the state championship his senior year. During his senior year Mike was also first team All Senior, First Team All-Conference, first Team All-State, and First Team All Met.
KYLE POWERS #18 - 1993; Position: Forward/Defense Height 5’10” Weight: 170 lbs, Shoots: Right. Scouting Report: Kyle enters his second year of junior hockey with the Potomac Patriots, having played his first season at the Empire level. He is a smart, team player that is great on the penalty kill. Kyle would like to play out his junior eligibility then pursue a degree in college while playing hockey. He is currently working full time to give himself the opportunity to play hockey and eventually go to college.
CHRISTIAN PARKER #44 - 1993; Position: Forward Height 6’1” Weight: 180 lbs, Shoots: Right. Scouting Report: Christian is a dynamic skater that over the past couple seasons has developed some very good hands to compliment his skating ability. He is entering his second year of junior hockey after taking last season off to focus on school. After realizing his passion for hockey grew as it vacated his life, Christian re-thought his goals in life. He now realizes that being a student athlete in college and having the ability to play hockey while pursuing his degree means more to him than anything else.
TRAVIS REECE #98 - 1994; Position: Forward, Height 5’9”” Weight: 175 lbs, Shoots: Right. Scouting Report: Travis is simply the purest, fastest skater in the Patriots program. His smooth, effortless stride could be compared to that of Paul Coffey. Add his hands and shooting ability and he is the complete package. After playing out his junior eligibility Travis aspires to play NCAA college hockey while getting his degree in physical therapy. Travis just graduated with a 3.8 and scored a 1650 on his SAT. His charity work he does away from the rink has also won him a national award.
ANDREAS BAGFELDT #66 - 1994; Position: Defense, Height 6’2”” Weight: 190 lbs, Shoots: Left. Scouting Report: Andreas is not your stereotypical European defenseman. While he does posses great hands and a cannon for a shot he also loves the physical aspect of American hockey. After playing 4 years of junior hockey in Sweden Andreas came to the United States this year in hopes of one day playing college hockey here. His GPA equivalent is about a 3.7. While playing college hockey Andreas hopes to study Mechanical Engineering or Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering or Marine Engineering.
JAMES VUILLEMOT #23 - 1994; Position: Defenseman Height 6’2” Weight: 180 lbs, Shoots: Right. Scouting Report: James is a big, solid defenseman that understands the game extremely well. He makes a great first pass out of the zone and is a good leader, serving as a Patriots Assistant Captain for the past two seasons. James is currently a senior at Woodbridge HIgh School in Woodbridge, Virginia where he carries a 3.425 GPA. His academic goals center around getting into a good school with a solid NCAA hockey program and then eventually going to law school.
ROBERT SANTIAGO #21 - 1994; Position: Forward Height 6’0” Weight: 170 lbs, Shoots: Right. Scouting Report: Robert’s smile says it all. He’s a team guy that works hard and does anything asked of him. In his this, his first seaosn of junior hockey, Robert is adjusting to the speed of the game and continues to improve. He currently attends Anne Arundel Community College and hopes to transfer to a four year school with a hockey program to study Criminal Justice.
MIKEY CARR #52 - 1995; Position: Forward, Height 5’7”” Weight: 150 lbs, Shoots: Right. Scouting Report: Mikey is a speedster and a great set up man. In this his second year of juniors with the Potomac Patriots, Mikey has lots of time to mature physically as he has 3 years of junior eligibility after this season. In the meantime he is wasting no time being an offensive contributor. He is currently a senior at Northern High School in Owings, Maryland. He has a 3.0 GPA. After High school he plans to play out his junior eligibility before going to college in pursuit of a Sports Management Degree.
NATHAN MARKS #19 - 1995; Position: Forward, Height 5’10”” Weight: 170 lbs, Shoots: Right. Scouting Report: Nathan is adapting to the speed and size of the junior hockey game. Last season in Tier II U16, he tallied over 160 points. As he adjusts his offensive output continues to increase. He is seeing the value in strength training off the ice and will continue to work hard in that aspect of his development. Nathan is a senior at Centreville High School in Centerville, Virginia. He holds a 3.6 GPA and was selected for the All Academic NVSHL All Star Team for both Ice Hockey and Lacrosse. Nathan plans to continue playing junior hockey at the highest level possible before going to college and hopefully playing NCAA hockey. He is interested in pursuing a Sports Management Degree.
NICK GRAY #61 - 1995; Position: Forward Height 5’9” Weight: 165 lbs, Shoots: Right. Scouting Report: Nick joined the Patriots late this year and in his first nine games he averaged a point per game. He is a pure goal scorer with a quick release and deadly accuracy. In addition he sees the ice well and can distribute the puck effectively. Last but not least, his offensive capability does not mask his hard work in his own end as he takes pride in his execution of defensive responsibilities. Nick will be an valuable offensive asset to any team he plays with. He’ll look to play more juniors in an effort to one day play NCAA hockey.
KEVIN McDONALD #65 - 1995; Position: Defenseman Height 5’11” Weight: 180 lbs, Shoots: Left. Scouting Report: Kevin has always been a top pair defenseman on any team his played on at either the Tier I or Tier II level. Another player trying to adjust, he’s noticed the decrease in time to make decisions and move the puck. As he is a very intelligent young man, he continues to improve and show why he has succeeded in every level of hockey he has played. His offensive upside will be the first thing any scout notices. Kevin is a senior at Briar Woods High School where he holds a 3.2 GPA. After playing out his junior hockey career he will look to play NCAA hockey while acquiring his degree in business.
DUSTYN MOYER #30 - 1995; Position: Goaltender Height 6’2” Weight: 160 lbs, Catches: Left. Scouting Report: Dustyn is entering his third year of junior hockey. He ended last season with a very successful playoff run in the Empire Junior Hockey League where he posted a 2.90 GAA and a .934 save percentage helping his team oust former National Champions Applecore. He was named First Team All State three years in a row and won a State Championship his freshman year. Dustyn currently holds a 3.0 GPA at Woodbridge High School in Woodbridge, Virginia. After continuing his junior career at the highest level possible Dustyn would like to pursue a degree in History while playing NCAA hockey.
GRAYSON RUNEY #15 - 1995; Position: Defenseman Height 5’10” Weight: 170 lbs, Shoots: Left. Scouting Report: Grayson is a slick skating defenseman with a great shot and a good head on his shoulders. He is a senior year at River Bend High School, and is a well rounded athlete playing multiple sports. While hockey is his passion he has excelled in baseball as well. He has Tier I experience and most recently has made 2 trips to Tier II U16 Nationals. He received an invitation to try out for an NAHL’s Bismarck Bobcats, but had to decline the invite to focus on finishing his senior year at RBHS while playing for the Potomac Patriots. Grayson’s goal for next season is to play hockey the NAHL and after a couple of seasons head off to college and get a good education while playing college hockey.
CARTER SCHULTZ #50 - 1995; Position: Defenseman Height 6’1” Weight: 180 lbs, Shoots: Left. Scouting Report: Carter is a big, coachable, team oriented defenseman. Coming off a TIer II U16 National appearance, this is Carter’s first year of junior hockey. In addition to playing hockey Carter runs marathons and participates in triathlons. He will one day look to play college hockey while pursuing his medical degree.
EVAN STERLING #54 - 1995; Position: Forward Height 6’0” Weight: 165 lbs, Shoots: Right. Scouting Report: After playing a year in the Met League Evan is making the transition to the EJHL South. He’s a smooth skating, play making winger with a good scoring touch. Evan currently is a senior in high school and holds a 3.1 GPA. He volunteers the the NOVA Cool Cats, a local special needs hockey team, in his spare time. Last year Evan was an NVSHL All Star and received an honorable mention for thee All Mer Team. He plans to pursue college after junior hockey, hopefully n a place where he can play hockey as a student athlete.
IAN EDGINGTON #7 - 1996; Position: Defesne, Height 6’0”” Weight: 170 lbs, Shoots: Left. Scouting Report: A solid stay at home defenseman that is as reliable as they come. Don’t count on him being at the top of the chart in points, but he won’t be anywhere near the top of the chart in turnovers either. As a 96 he has already developed into a top 4 defenseman at the EJHL South level. Prior to juniors Ian played 5 years of Tier I hockey. He currently has a 3.4 GPA and participates in several clubs at school including DECA and KEY Club. Lastly Ian is a multi sport athlete that is very gifted in the game of baseball as well as hockey. Ian will look to play college hockey at the highest level he can while getting a good education.
JOE POULIOT #5 - 1996; Position: Forward Height 6’2” Weight: 195 lbs, Shoots: Right. Scouting Report: Joe is a big, solid power forward that never shies away from the physical game. He’ll sacrifice his body to throw hits, take hits, block shots, or whatever it takes to help the team win. He’s a great net front presence on the power play and is always good for some points as a result. Before junior hockey he played Tier I for almost his entire playing career. Joe looks to pursue an Engineering Technology Program in school after playing junior hockey. Joe currently holds a 3.7 GPA and is a junior at Garfield High School in Woodbridge, Virginia.
CAMERON SMITH #3 - 1997; Position: Forward, Height 5’7”” Weight: 150 lbs, Shoots: Right. Scouting Report: Independent scouting reports at the USHL combine describe Cameron as both a playmaker and goal scorer who will put the puck in at the next level. Cameron describes hockey as his “raison d’etre” and ultimately would like to be a professional hockey player. He had a 3.5 GPA during his freshman year of high school. Cameron aspires to be drafted in the USHL Futures Draft this spring and play in the USHL before attending college.
GARRETT FORREST #97 - 1997; Position: Goaltender Height 5’8” Weight: 150 lbs, Catches: Left. Scouting Report: Garrett is a young, quick, gifted goaltender that gets better every time he steps on the ice. This past spring he attended the USHL Combine and the Cedar Rapids Rough Riders Futures Combine where he received a great deal of attention. Before joining the Potomac Patriots this season Garrett billeted in Detroit and captured back to back Tier I AAA Championships with the Little Caesars and Belle Tire. He led his team to the bantam major semi finals at the 2012 Tier I Nationals this past spring. Among numerous awards Garrett has received over his young hockey career, Garrett was named Selects Hockey Player of the Year in 2010. Garrett is currently a sophomore in high school in Ashburn, Virginia and is carrying a 3.5 GPA.
